I bought the bed topper and comforter and love them both. I was a bit worried the comforter would be a bit warm, but that is not the case. I have had them since November, so have not experienced using the comforter in summertime, but I am in Florida now and my wife and I love the bed topper, so glad I packed it along on our trip. I did not pack the comforter.

How do I store my wool bedding?

If you are going to store your wool bedding products during the summer months, we suggest that you store it either in a cedar chest, in a bright area or with a combination of different moth repellant scents such as essential oils of cedar, lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus and patchouli. You can keep a little sachet with some of these fresh herbs inside or use the oils. You can also place the product in an air tight plastic bag, if that is better for you.

Our wool has very little scratchiness. It is so soft that some people like to sleep directly on the wool, although all of our products have a cotton encasement creating a thin separation between you and the fiber. In some cases, those who show a reaction to wool are actually sensitive to the harsh scouring agents, dyes and chemicals used in some wool production. We use none of these potential irritants.

How is your wool processed?

After the sheep are sheared, the fleece is sorted and only the cleanest parts are selected for our lots, the wool is then washed in water and a natural, biodegradable detergent and then air dried. Once clean, the wool is then sent back to our mills where it is picked ("fluffed up") and carded. A carding mill is a large machine with multiple large rollers that have small wire brush like surfaces or combs covering them. These rolling combs take the wool fibers and stretch them out and lay them on top of each other to create a wool matrix or batt. This resilient, soft wool batting is what is used to produce the majority of our bedding products.

Is wool bedding good for people with allergies or sensitivities?

In most cases where people have chemical sensitivities or allergies, they find relief with our wool products. Our wool is not treated and our other materials are also organic without any additives.

Are there any chemicals or pesticides used in this comforter?

We are very selective about sourcing our wool from growers who adhere to our high standards for purity and managing their flocks in a humane, chemical and pesticide-free, and environmentally thoughtful manner.

How do I wash this comforter?

PlushBeds' Luxury Handmade Wool Comforter is covered by a 100% organic cotton sateen, hand tufted cover. If you should get stains on the cover, gently "spot clean" with a clean cloth and a few drops of mild detergent in a cup of water. Wipe detergent mixture away with a clean, damp cloth and let the cover "air dry". Do not use a hair dryer to dry.
